“Be still and know that I am God” is what the Scriptures say God speaks to men. In the old Testament it is written: “A fool says in his heart there is no God”.
Is God a metaphysical force that makes life and all living things possible? Does God exist in everything including nature like the Hindu tradition believes? Is God a divine Mind that the ancient philosophers attributed to Him? Is God pure consciousness or the spirit in life as the New Age guru thinks?
The most relevant thought to ever ponder. In a soon to come book, this will be discussed at length, here it will be addressed briefly.
Imagine the nature of God, what God consists of, and of what configuration. In what form is God? What is God’s essence, the Almighty who is knowably Eternal to the Religious and indefinable to the mystic? The question then may be, what is God rather than who God is. For to define the later, the former must be understood.
Observe now, that man has a mind with an attention that shifts from moment to moment with words and ideas conjured by his surroundings. This, the attention of the human mind, in a moment, changes and moves subtly and without foreknowledge. Now, consider for a moment that God never changes, either in thought or in action. He is neither moved by his surroundings or is His attention changed from what He conceives. God is all-knowing and requires no movement to be, or indeed He needs not to move to become. Men think and move from one point to the other, this will be discussed later. God, on the other, thinks and moves not, as it were, according to human knowledge, effort, and of what the human intellect may grasp…. God exists as “One”, meaning “all inclusive” and does not require movement or a process – the localization of time and space to exist…. God remains unaffected and unchanged by any quality of human perception. Thus, God’s nature exceeds it in substance and in form. And in this state, without provocation or realm of need.
I will explain. But before I do, let us consider what views are, and have been held, by the great minds of men, past and at present.
One form of Hindu mysticism and metaphysics hold that God or the Divine exists as a non-dual reality, that the nature of the Divine is indefinable and immeasurable as well as constant in Mind…. Only when the Divine exists in material form does there exist a duality to “God’s” nature. In one sense this is true, in another, it is not. This concept will be fully disclosed in an upcoming book, for now it is sufficient to say that, in this view of God, the essence the Divine possesses is beyond any material objectification, what is humanly conceivable yet existing, in duality, in that of nature. Therefore, God exists also in nature in the purest sense of reality. Only this is part true. The rest will be addressed later….
These views are known as Dualism and Non-Dualism. In Dualism God exists in the immaterial while simultaneously existing in the material, the unseen and the seen. In Non-Dualism God exists in the formless, nonmaterial, unknowable state of being. And when God manifests in material form, God “assumes” the nature of Dualism. Some Hindus are Non-Dualist, that God never manifests in nature, while a Dualist believes God is both unnatural and natural all at once.
Ancient Greeks held a similar view of “the divine” with various degrees of opinion.
